"We were blown away" says this 5-star review on Yelp! Great job, Mark!

"I am late in sending you this email, but I wanted to let you know how happy we were with Mark Ruset's help with our last service.  We were there earlier in the month and besides getting a service we changed out a few things with our brakes.  He had quoted us a certain price before we went ahead and agreed to getting the work done, however the mechanic installed something that Mark had forgotten to tell us about, it was on the quote, however Mark had missed it, so he graciously went ahead with us to the counter and pulled out his own credit card and paid for that part.  We were blown away. It was amazing in today's world to come across such an action.  He's a great asset to your service department." - M and N Bronzini

Bodine Aluminum Celebrates 100 Years of Manufacturing in the U.S.

Wholly-owned Toyota subsidiary employs 1,100 in Missouri and Tennessee

Toyota-logo-big
As a successful manufacturer of quality casting parts to the automotive, aerospace, railroad and heavy industrial equipment businesses, Bodine Aluminum, Inc., will celebrate its 100th anniversary with team members and executives at a private reception this weekend.

Bodine Aluminum, originally known as Bodine Pattern Company, was founded in 1912 in St. Louis by Jesse R. Bodine to manufacture patterns for various automotive customers. As the company expanded, it was the first in the region to heat-treat aluminum castings for military and aircraft production. This led to diversified business opportunities within other industries. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) purchased the company in 1990.

Today, Bodine produces engine brackets; carrier covers; cylinder heads and blocks; automatic transmission parts for Toyota’s engine and transmission plants in Alabama, Kentucky and West Virginia. It employs 1,100 at its three locations in Missouri (Troy and St. Louis) and Tennessee (Jackson) and its total investment tops $600 million.

“Bodine’s 100th anniversary here in the Show-Me State, and respected brand name in the auto supplier industry, should be a source of pride for all Missourians,” said Missouri Governor Jay Nixon. “With the state of Missouri leading the rebirth of the American auto manufacturing industry, I expect Bodine to continue to prosper for generations to come.”

“When Bodine and Toyota began their partnership in 1990, we recognized its outstanding production methods, high quality and deep roots of manufacturing in America for a variety of industries,” said Dr. Shoichiro Toyoda, honorary chairman of TMC. “Bodine team members are the reason for our success in North America.”

“Bodine’s 100 years as a successful American manufacturer is a result of our team member’s ability to adapt to change,” said Bob Lloyd, president of Bodine. “They accept the idea that there’s no best way; only a better way.”

Your Monday Maintenance Tip: Check your spare tire

3

Your Monday Maintenance Tip: Spare tires on pickup trucks and SUVs are suspended underneath the vehicle on a cable, and that mechanism requires regular attention. Lower and raise that under-car spare to check if the cable mechanism works freely.  Spray it with a rust penetrant like WD-40 and then lube with white lithium grease.  If the mechanism has seized, repair it immediately.

Toyota Tundra to Tow Space Shuttle Endeavour on Last Leg of Journey to the California Science Center

Tundra Entrusted With Historic Transportation of Endeavour Through California Science Center Partnership to Promote Education and Space Awareness

Tundraendeavour_schematic_c

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. (TMS) announced today that the Toyota Tundra full-size pickup truck is slated to tow the space shuttle Endeavour during its final journey to the California Science Center on October 13, 2012, where it will go on permanent display. The Endeavour will travel a total of 12 miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on city streets to the Science Center, with the Tundra towing the last quarter mile.

Tested extensively prior to the announcement, the 2012 Tundra is slated to safely tow the 300,000 pound historic artifact down Bill Robertson Lane in Exposition Park, near downtown Los Angeles, on the final leg of its journey. Endeavour will be towed using a stock 2012 Tundra CrewMax 1/2–ton pickup, identical to models currently found in Toyota dealerships, with no additional modifications made to increase towing capacity or generate more power. The Tundra CrewMax is equipped with Toyota’s powerful 5.7L V8 engine, producing a maximum tow capacity of 10,000 pounds. TMS has done extensive testing and worked with The Sarens Group, a heavy lifting and engineered transport company, to develop a dolly specifically for hauling the Endeavour.

“There is no larger or more recognizable icon of the U.S. space program’s success than the shuttle, and to have it towed by the Toyota Tundra is not only an incredible example of the capabilities of the truck, but an honor to be part of history,” said Ed Laukes, TMS vice president of marketing communications. “The entire journey is something the world will be watching, and gives us a chance to prove that the ‘overbuilt’ Tundra is built to do any job – even tow the space shuttle.”

Participation in the transportation of the shuttle is part of an ongoing partnership between TMS and the Science Center in an effort to provide support and awareness of the space program and continuing education of the public through exhibits and programs. Toyota currently has a Tundra truck on display in a Science Center exhibit demonstrating the physics of leverage. The tow Tundra will replace the existing Tundra and will be on display after the Endeavour exhibit opens on October 30, 2012.

At the end of the Endeavour’s 12 mile journey from LAX to the Science Center, a “finish-line” celebration at Exposition Park is planned for the evening of October 13, as the shuttle arrives at the Science Center, allowing the public to witness the finale of this historic voyage.

The tow program was developed in partnership with Saatchi & Saatchi LA (SSLA), the agency of record for TMS, and the Science Center, and serves as a unique way to demonstrate Tundra’s capabilities and towing capacity. In collaboration with SSLA and Science Center, TMS has developed a host of online resources and activities that provide behind-the-scenes videos, photos, activities for children and information about the Tundra Endeavour project and can be found at Toyota Endeavour's webpage beginning September 17th. Visitors can share content, sign up for email alerts and participate in re-Tweeting information that will help contribute money to the California Science Center for further development of exhibits and displays.

Toyota Camry knocks out Ford F-150 as top-selling vehicle in the U.S.

Toyota sold 209,000 Camrys from January to June this year, outselling F-150s by just 7,000 vehicles, Experian said.

Article-camry1-0911

Ford may build tough cars, but it got some tough news on Tuesday.

There’s a new king of the road.

The Detroit auto giant’s flagship F-150 pickup is no longer the top-selling vehicle in the U.S., according to a report from Experian Automotive.

The popular truck was unseated by the Toyota Camry, which overcame supply shortages due to last year’s tsunami in Japan, several parts recalls and the risk of a design overhaul.

Toyota sold 209,000 Camrys from January to June this year, outselling F-150s by just 7,000 vehicles, Experian said.

The F-150 had been No.1 and the Camry ranked second in the first six months of 2011.

Honda Civic was a distant third this year, with 158,000 sold.

Experian, which based its findings on new vehicle registration figures, also found that midrange cars were the highest-selling category this year, with 27.4% of all sales, led by the Camry.

Toyota Reveals New Tagline 'Let's Go Places'

Toyota Tagline Signals New Direction and Invites Customers Along for the Ride

Toyota_logo
Toyota announced an engaging new tagline today, “Let’s Go Places,” reflecting the company’s commitment to more exciting products and the promise that customers are invited to take part in shaping Toyota’s future. The new theme, which represents the vision of Toyota Motor Corporation President, Akio Toyoda, was revealed today at the Toyota National Dealer Meeting in Las Vegas.

“Let’s Go Places” evokes the forward-looking and optimistic momentum of Toyota in America.  It invites consumers on a journey to see new places, discover new possibilities and dream big dreams together with Toyota. “Let’s Go Places” begins today to engage consumers to discover Toyota and will debut nationally on December 31, 2012, as part of the campaign for the radically new Avalon, the embodiment of Toyota’s new direction.  “Let’s Go Places” replaces the previous Toyota tagline “Moving Forward.”

“Let’s Go Places” speaks to the evolution of Toyota and our commitment to leading through innovation, enriching lives and connecting with customers in new ways they define,” said Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager, Toyota Division.  “It is energetic, aspirational, inclusive and very versatile. The phrase conveys a dual meaning of physically going places and taking off on an adventure, while also expressing optimism and the promise of exciting innovation that enriches people’s lives. It allows our associates, customers, dealers, and suppliers to interpret it in ways that are most personally relevant to them.”

“Let’s Go Places” emphasizes the thrill of innovation for a better way to live and drive, and delivers on that promise in a variety of ways – from seven, exciting all-new or updated Toyota and Scion vehicles in 2013, to unique community-giving programs such as 100 Cars for Good, to partnerships like Toyota’s Personal Branding Initiative to assist veterans in translating their military skills into employment opportunities.

The new tagline is the result of extensive research and collaboration with longtime partners Saatchi & Saatchi, Dentsu America, Conill, Burrell, Intertrend, and Grieco Research.

Beginning in 2013, “Let’s Go Places” will be integrated into all of Toyota’s national and regional advertising, engagement, communications and digital across all segments.
